|03:04 pm - Hat Project Year 3 - THE NEW YEAR BEGINS WHEN I SAY IT DOES|
So I've lolled around for several days straight, doing as little as possible, and to hell with that 'cause I'm bored. I'm ready to get back to playing excessive amounts of video games because that's what I do, and I'm ready to get back to writing about video games so you can live vicariously through all the good parts of being me without dealing with the terrible parts of being me.
Speaking of the terrible parts of being me, check out what I'm playing to kick off the new year!
The thing is? I HATE this game. I remember playing about... a quarter? A third? of it, and running into an endless parade of things that irritated me. The glitches, running straight through the scenery, the need to collect Chaos Emeralds in the special stages, the awkward fiddlyness of switching characters on the fly...
Yeah yeah screw it. I've beaten Sonic 2006, I've beaten Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, I'm gonna beat this no matter how long it takes. What's more, I'm gonna give it a fair shake. I'm gonna wipe the slate clean as of right now and pretend it's a new fresh game that has never irritated me. Let's see if I end up enjoying the experience.
Sonic Heroes, everybody. Please look forward to it.

I had this for the Cube, and I don't remember it terribly clearly. I recall thinking it wasn't a bad game taken on its own, but it was a terrible -Sonic- game.
It's... not as bad as Sonic 2006?
I'm not sure I agree with that.
I think I cracked the code with Xyzzy about that just now, actually:
Okay. I think I've finally pieced together why people say Sonic 06 is worse than Heroes.
Sonic 2006 was about as glitchy and had infuriating hit-detection issues (which, admittedly, is the one thing Heroes DOESN'T fuck up too bad - you'll never take damage from attacking something HOW YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO ATTACK IT, as far as I know)
The thing is, Sonic 2006 was bad on a much BROADER RANGE of aspects; while at least Sonic Heroes's writing is CAMPILY bad, Sonic 06's writing is just BAD, like fanfiction.net "why am I reading this" dreck.
Sonic 06 also came out on the next generation of consoles, but its strictest competition for quality was Heroes, which is still admittedly a GAMECUBE/XBOX GAME. So it's COMPARATIVELY worse.
Basically, what I'm saying is that, writing and music aside, Sonic Heroes is every bit as bad as 2006 was.
